Car Luxury Tax Expires, Now The Only 1991 Luxury Tax Is On Beer

The luxury excise tax increases passed by Congress in 1990 and levied in 1991 have now expired. As the Wall Street Journal noted, “January 1 (2003) marked the expiration of the federal luxury tax on cars, the last vestige of the destructive luxury tax package in the infamous 1990 budget deal.” Well, not quite the last vestige. Budweiser’s “Born On” Date Says “Think Fresh, Drink Fresh”

Budweiser was the first beer to put it’s “Born On” date on all its packages and now offers beer packaged the same day to consumers in St. Louis County through special Grey Eagle promotions.
“Each Thursday, one or more on-premise retailers in St. Louis County will be serving Budweiser that was born earlier the same

day,” said Dann Oldani, Sales and Marketing Manager at Grey Eagle. “Fresh beer tastes better and we are proving it every Thursday.”

Anheuser-Busch Introduces Bacardi Silver O3

Anheuser-Busch will introduce an extension of Bacardi Silver flavored alcohol beverage (FAB) when it rolls out Bacardi Silver 03 on March 3.
New Bacardi Silver O3 is a premium malt beverage with the natural flavors of three oranges: mandarin, tangerine and Valencia. Like Bacardi Silver, O3 is refreshingly clean and not too sweet.

Beer Was Important To Incas
Beer played an important role in the lives of the ancient Incan empire in Peru according to a story by the Associated Press. Writing about the opening of an exhibit at Yale University of artifacts from the Peruvian royal city of Machu Picchu, reporter Diane Scarponi wrote, “Some of the fine work on display includes a silver llama, figurines and paired silver drinking cups that were used in ceremonies to drink corn beer. Corn beer played an important role in Inca life — it was consumed at ceremonies and was a major food source for the people. The exhibit displays some pottery kegs for beer and other vessels used to store and drink it.”
