Anheuser-Busch and Grey Eagle Remain Committed to St. Louis

With all the talk about changes in the beer industry, it’s easy to lose sight of what hasn’t changed. St. Louis is still the home of the largest U.S. brewer.

Billions of cans and bottles of Budweiser, Michelob and other Anheuser-Busch products are brewed and bottled in St. Louis every year and delivered fresh to Midwest retailers by employees of Anheuser-Busch distributors.

St. Louis is the North American Headquarters of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the largest brewer in the world. And, the leading U.S. brewer is St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, a subsidiary of A-B InBev.

“Our commitment is that Anheuser-Busch remains a wholly owned subsidiary based in St. Louis. St. Louis is very much connected with our identity, our heritage and our traditions. That’s not something we want to change,” said Dave Peacock, President and CEO, Anheuser-Busch Companies, in the recent 2009 issue of St. Louis Commerce Magazine.

In addition, A-B and Grey Eagle contribute millions of dollars annually to a wide variety of worthy causes and organizations in the region. Local organizations supported by Grey Eagle include Children’s Hospital, The BackStoppers, Boys Hope Girls Hope, St. Louis Sports Commission, Boy Scouts and many more.

Also, Anheuser-Busch continues its supports and commitment to long-standing traditions including the Clydesdales and Grant’s Farm. In fact, the Clydesdales appeared in the Webster Groves Fourth of July Parade, as well as on Main Street in St. Charles.

A-B continues to be one of the region’s largest employers, with more than 4,000 employees. Grey Eagle, itself, employs more 200 full-time staff members (union and salaried) and operates a large distribution center on eleven acres in Maryland Heights.

“We appreciate the support the St. Louis community gives our products, our employees and our company,” said David Stokes, CEO, Grey Eagle Distributors.
“We will continue to earn their support by providing the highest quality products and absolute best service and do everything we can to make St. Louis an even better place to live and work."
